The leader of Alaska’s Department of Motor Vehicles has resigned.
Amy Erickson was hired to run the DMV in 2013 under former Republican Gov. Sean Parnell and quit her position in June. The resignation was first reported Wednesday by the Alaska Dispatch News.
By email, Alaska Department of Administration spokeswoman Minta Montalbo said the department does not typically announce the resignations of employees below the commissioner level. She added that under state statute, resignation letters are confidential.
Amy Johnson, deputy director of the DMV, will perform Erickson’s job until a permanent replacement is hired.
Montalbo said she isn’t aware of any problems in the department, and she believes Erickson’s departure is routine.
