If you live in Lemon Creek and you hear gunshots this month and next, it might be the Juneau Police Department.
Starting last night, JPD’s low-light firearms training is going on for staff members. The first session ran from 2-10 p.m. Monday. There are three more sessions, all of which run from 2-10 p.m.: Thursday, Dec. 14; Wednesday, Dec. 27; Wednesday, Jan. 3.
The training is taking place at the shooting range behind the Lemon Creek Correctional Center. According to a JPD announcement, it is highly likely that people in the area will be able to hear gunshots during these training sessions. If people hear gunshots that are not obviously part of the training, though, they are still advised to call the police.
