The Alaska House of Representatives has extended the work of the state parole board and approved legislation regularizing the dividend paid by the Alaska Industrial Development and Export Authority.
In a pair of 36-0 votes Tuesday, the House approved HB 231 and HB 268, sending them on to the Alaska Senate for further vetting and approval.
House Bill 231, sponsored by Rep. Bob Lynn, R-Anchorage, simply allows the parole board to continue working through June 2021. The state’s volunteer-run boards typically expire every five years and must be renewed by the Alaska Legislature at regular intervals.
House Bill 268, brought forward by the governor’s office, provides more consistent accounting of the dividend paid by AIDEA to the state each year.
The House and Senate are each scheduled to meet for a floor session at 11 a.m. Wednesday.
