ANCHORAGE — Hydaburg Mayor Anthony Christianson has been named chairman of the Federal Subsistence Board.
The appointment was announced Tuesday by Interior Secretary Sally Jewell in a news release.
Officials say Christianson is a lifelong Alaskan who was named in October as the interim chair of the board, which oversees fish and wildlife management resources on federal lands and waters in Alaska for subsistence activities.
Christianson initially was appointed to the board in 2012 as one of two public members.
Officials say Tim Towarak, the previous board chair, served five years before stepping down in September.
