A dinner tonight at the Elizabeth Peratrovich Hall will launch the 2016 Alaska Native Brotherhood and Sisterhood Grand Camp gathering to deliberate indigenous persons’ civil rights issues.
Grand Camp activities will carry on Wednesday and Thursday at the Elizabeth Peratrovich Hall, then Friday and Saturday at the Vocation Training and Resource Center. Contrary to an online Grand Camp agenda, a representative from Lt. Gov. Byron Mallott’s office said Mallott will only be able to address the Grand Camp 12:30 p.m. Friday.
During the four-day event, the following events will take place: appointments for the ANB Grand President; an adoption of an auditor’s report; nominations for Grand Offices and campaign speeches; the selection of the next Grand Camp and Convention sites; and the approval of the 2016-2017 Grand Camp budget.
A full list of the proposed Grand Camp agenda items can be viewed here.
The Grand Camp gathering will also be tracked via social media using #LIVEANBANS.
Tuesday night’s dinner is not open to the general public and is for registered convention attendees.
