JUNEAU — The Alaska House and Senate plan to meet in joint session next month to consider appointments made by Gov. Bill Walker.
Legislators have expressed concern with a still-unfilled Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission post.
Walker says he hoped Mark Myers would take the job when he retired as commissioner of the state Department of Natural Resources but Myers declined. Walker says he’s working on a backup and hopes to address the nomination this session.
Myers’ permanent successor at Natural Resources hasn’t been named, nor has a nominee been named to permanently take over at the state education department following Mike Hanley’s resignation earlier this year.
One new commissioner who faces confirmation: Dean Williams, who was tapped to lead Corrections.
The session to consider confirmations is scheduled for April 15.
