On Sunday morning, Juneau Police Department officers arrested a man they caught burglarizing a business in the 5100 block of Glacier highway, according to JPD.
Initially, after officers responded to an intrusion alarm at about 11:30 a.m., everything looked to be in order at the business, which was not named in a JPD release. The business was closed, the doors were locked. But upon further inspection, the responding officers noticed that there was somebody inside the business.
Dirk Daugherty, 35, allegedly entered the locked business through the business next door, which was open at the time. According to police, he put on an item of clothing worth about $90 and then tried to make his escape by climbing out a window.
Officers watched as Daugherty began crawling through the window, still wearing the stolen merchandise, before arresting him and taking him to Lemon Creek Correctional Center.
Daugherty now faces charges of burglary in the second degree, a felony, and theft in the fourth degree, a misdemeanor.
