The Juneau Police Department wants everyone to have a safe Halloween weekend.
JPD asks that those driving to and from weekend parties not drink alcohol, to make sure everyone is wearing a seatbelt and to avoid distractions. JPD will have extra officers on the roads working DUI enforcement over the weekend.
On Halloween night, the JPD asks that drivers take special care as neighborhoods fill with trick-or-treaters.
Trick-or-treaters should watch out for cars and cross the street at designated crosswalks when available. It is also recommended that they wear bright clothing, walk in groups, carry a light and have adult supervision.
Additionally, do not enter a stranger’s house, and children should be reminded not to accept rides without a parent’s permission. Parents should remind children not to eat treats unless they are unopened, store-bought treats that have been inspected by an adult.
