The Juneau Police Department responded to a report of a disturbance in an Amalga Street apartment Sunday evening.
Once there, officers found a man and a woman who had apparently been arguing. Walls and doors within the apartment were damaged, and broken dishes were strewn across the floor.
The woman was bleeding from lacerations to her face, and she had multiple bruises and cuts on other parts of her body, officers said.
The injured woman was taken to Bartlett Regional Hospital, while the man was arrested for second-degree domestic violence assault, a felony, and was taken to the Lemon Creek Correctional Center.
As part of the newspaper’s official policy, the Empire will not name an accused domestic abuser if there is a risk that a victim could be identified.
