Police officers reunited a missing child with his family after what appears to have been a two-hour search in the Mendenhall Valley.
At approximately 11 a.m. Monday, Juneau Police Department officials put out a request on the official JPD Facebook page to help find 8-year-old Joshua Anderson.
Anderson reportedly did not want to go to school and left his bus stop near Slate and Canyon drives, the Facebook post states. A school employee notified the boy’s mother at 9:10 a.m. that he was absent and the family began their search.
Two hours after JPD’s Facebook post, JPD received a tip that a boy was seen in a neighborhood playground, and an officer searching the area on foot was able to locate the boy under the playground equipment.
The boy has since been reunited with his family.
