A 20-year-old Juneau man has been indicted on multiple charges connected to sexual abuse of a minor, according to Juneau Police Department and Alaska Department of Law.

Christopher Isaiah Coulson was indicted by a Juneau grand jury Thursday on charges of first-degree sexual assault, second-degree sexual abuse of a minor and two counts of third-degree assault, according to the Department of Law. All charges are designated as domestic violence.

In March 2019, Juneau police began investigating a report of possible assault of a minor from the parent of a 14-year-old girl who police say reported their daughter was having a relationship with a 19-year-old man.

According to police, detectives determined the suspect engaged in sexual intercourse with the girl while knowing that she was 14.

Under state statute, someone 17 or older engaging “in sexual penetration with a person who is 13, 14, or 15 years of age and at least four years younger than the offender,” is among the definitions of second-degree sexual abuse of a minor.

Alaska State Troopers arrested Coulson in Juneau on a warrant following the indictment. He was taken to Lemon Creek Correctional Center.

If convicted at trial, Coulson faces up to 99 years imprisonment, according to Department of Law.
