Juneau police have identified the man whose body was found in the Mendenhall Wetlands earlier this week.
Juneau Police Department spokesman Lt. David Campbell told the Empire on Friday afternoon that the Alaska State Medical Examiner’s Office in Anchorage confirmed the dead man was 56-year-old Juneau resident John Ross Knudson. His next of kin have been notified.
The cause of death is still under investigation by the medical examiner’s office, Campbell said. A preliminary report indicated there wasn’t any evidence of trauma, police said.
Two 23-year-old duck hunters found Knudson’s body in the wetlands near Sunny Point early Wednesday morning on the first day of the hunting season.
