Juneau police say they have identified the person found deceased in a backyard pond earlier this month.

He was Christian T. Knapp, a 25-year-old Juneau resident, police said in a release.

“We made tentative identification by his tattoos,” Juneau Police Department spokeswoman Erann Kalwara said. “The medical examiner was notified of the potential name and was able to positively identify him.”

The police did not provide any more information about circumstances surrounding his death. Kalwara said JPD has not received the autopsy report yet.

JPD on July 3 responded to a call on Atlin Drive about a person floating in a pond. Capital City Fire/Rescue recovered the body, and transported him to the State Medical Examiner Office in Anchorage.
