Junior all-stars prep for district tournament

The Gastineau Channel Little League Junior Softball all-star team begins the District 2 Junior Softball Tournament on Monday in Ketchikan.

The Juneau team will play the Ketchikan Little League Junior Softball all-star team in a best-of-five game series for the title. Juneau and Ketchikan play Game 1 on Monday night at 6 p.m. Games 2 and 3 take place Tuesday at 3 and 6 p.m., respectively.

The winner of the district tournament advances to the state tournament, which will also take place in Ketchikan. The state tournament is scheduled for Saturday, July 7 to Tuesday, July 10.

The Junior all-stars are coached by Barb Strong, Jim Carson and Dave Oliver.
