John Kasich, Ohio’s governor and a Republican candidate to become president, has become the first person to file for the Republican primary in Alaska.
The news was announced in an email Friday by the Alaska Republican Party.
Alaska Republicans select their choice to become president in a March 1 poll.
Alaska has 28 delegates to the Republican National Convention — held July 18-21 in Cleveland — and those delegates are allocated to candidates proportionally by the results of the poll.
The people chosen to represent Alaska at the national convention will be picked at the state Republican convention April 28.
