KENAI — A former plant manager says the seafood processor Great Pacific Seafoods has shut down its Alaska operations.
The Peninsula Clarion reported that representatives from the company have not returned requests for comment but a former Kenai plant manager says the processing plant will not operate for the summer.
Former manager Nick Barrie says the Seattle-based company will be filing for bankruptcy.
No bankruptcy filings related to the company are available on the electronic federal bankruptcy court system.
Great Pacific operates plants in Anchorage, Kenai and Whittier, and had previously run buying operations in Kotzebue and Homer, employing approximately 300 people statewide during the peak of fishing season.
