The Key Coalition of Alaska will be holding a rally on the steps of the Capitol on Friday.
Key Coalition of Alaska educates legislators about the importance of sustaining community-based services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Each year, the Key Coalition organization sends members and advocates to Juneau to speak with legislators about public policy issues affecting people who experience a disability.
Advocates are scheduled to meet with legislators and the governor from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Friday. At 11:30 a.m., all who wish to participate in the March to the Steps will meet at the Goldbelt Hotel. From there, staying only on the sidewalk, the group will walk to the intersection of Main Street and Fourth Street. They will cross the intersection, stopping in front of the Capitol.
The Capitol Steps Rally will begin at noon and will end at 1 p.m. Fourth Street between Main and Seward Streets will be closed to all vehicular traffic during these times.
