The city wants to help local residents learn how to run for public office.
A free half-day workshop is scheduled for those who have considered running for office, but don’t know where to start.It’s for anyone considering a run this year, or at any time in the future.
The workshop is sponsored by the Juneau League of Women Voters, the City Clerk’s office, the Juneau Public Libraries and the Juneau School District. The workshop will be held Saturday, June 17, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the City Hall Assembly Chambers.
Speakers will cover information about what the job of Assembly member or School Board member is like, the legal requirements, how to run a campaign and how to determine readiness for the positions.

At the workshop, each attendee will be given a full tool kit of information, including election requirements, the forms that have to be filed as well as many other resources for anyone planning to make a run for the Assembly or School Board.
