Later this month, the City and Borough of Juneau Planning Commission is examining a plan for the future of Lemon Creek, and the public is invited to share its thoughts.
Public hearing will take place at 7 p.m., Oct. 24 in the Assembly Chambers at City Hall. After hearing from community members, the Planning Commission will then decide whether to pass the plan along to the Assembly for final approval.
The Lemon Creek draft plan is a 20-year guiding document that the CBJ will use for land use, economic development, recreation, transportation, housing and more for the Lemon Creek area from Fred Meyer to Vanderbilt Road. The plan was put together by a 12-person steering committee with input from residents, business owners and others in the Lemon Creek area.
Priorities in the plan are to improve Lemon Creek’s identity as Juneau’s Midtown, creating an area of attractive neighborhoods and distinctive work places, protecting natural resources, installing parks and recreational facilities and implementing new zoning that promotes development and conservation.
Public copies of the plan are available at all Juneau Public Libraries, the City Clerk’s Office in City Hall or the Community Development Department office in the Marine View building. It is also available on the city’s website.
