JUNEAU — U.S. Rep. Don Young’s main Democratic rival raised more than Young during the latest fundraising quarter but lags in overall cash available after jumping into the race just months ago.
Democrat Steve Lindbeck reported raising just over $418,000 between April and June. That includes about $17,000 that Lindbeck himself contributed.
Lindbeck, who entered the race in April, ended the quarter with nearly $325,000 available. A disclosure filed with the Federal Election Commission also showed the campaign with a $2,000 debt for research consulting.
Young, meanwhile, reported raising just over $136,000 during the quarter and ending the period with $640,000 available.
Young, the longest-serving Republican in the U.S. House, faces no major opposition in next month’s GOP primary.
