Juneau poet Miriam Wagoner has published her first collection of poetry through Alaska Litho titled “A Poem Book From My Kaasei Nook To The World” and will have author signings this October.
She will do a public reading and signing on Thursday, Oct. 19 at Hearthside Books’ Nugget Mall location at 6:30 p.m. She will also do a signing at Alaska Dames’ Mendenhall Valley location on Sunday, Oct. 22 from 1-5 p.m.
She encourages attendees to wear purple in support of National Domestic Violence Awareness month; she is a domestic violence survivor, and wrote several of her poems while at Aiding Women in Abuse and Rape Emergencies’ (AWARE) facility known as Kaasei, which inspired her book’s name.
Wagoner first began publishing her poetry through the Capital City Weekly’s Writers’ Weir section. After several publications, she decided to release a collection of her work for the public. The book can now be found on Amazon for the Kindle, and physical copies can be purchased at Hearthside Books, alaskalitho.com, and directly through Wagoner.
