ANCHORAGE — A 26-year-old Anchorage man has been accused of shooting an auto mechanic to death.
Police say Trevon Allridge walked into an auto shop Tuesday afternoon at a south Anchorage dealership and shot William Schmaus, a 51-year-old mechanic. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say the motive isn’t known, and Allridge refused to make a statement when he was taken into custody.
Allridge has been charged with two counts of murder. He’s being held without bail, and an arraignment hearing was scheduled later Wednesday. Online court records don’t list an attorney for Allridge.
Witnesses told police that Allridge is a friend of the shop’s owner and had visited there many time.
