A 29-year-old man was arrested after he allegedly used pepper spray or something similar inside the downtown Foodland IGA, reported the Juneau Police Department.
JPD received several phone calls just before 2 p.m. Wednesday reporting that people inside the grocery store were effected by a chemichal spray. Police and Capital City Fire/Rescue arrived at Foodland and another report was made regarding a welfare check of a man near Egan Drive and Channel Vista who was splashing water in his face.
Police contact 29-year-old Timothy James, who was suffering from effects of the chemical spray, and determined he had discharged the spray at Foodland IGA.
James was charged with a misdemeanor assault and taken to Lemon Creek Correctional Center and held on $1,500 bail.
During the incident CCFR evaluated and assisted in the decontamination of those that were impacted by the spray, according to JPD, and no injuries were reported.
