A man was arrested Tuesday evening for threatening behavior while in Fred Meyer, said a police spokesperson.
Ollie T. Stewart, 50, was arrested on charges of felony third-degree assault and violating conditions of release around 8:30 p.m., said Lt. Krag Campbell.
“He believed someone was stealing from him, so he got a bat from the sporting goods section and was yelling and swinging it around,” Campbell said in a phone interview.
While nobody was injured, Campbell said, the suspect was swinging the bat uncomfortably close to employees.
Stewart was arrested without incident when officers arrived, and was taken to Lemon Creek Correctional Center. He was arraigned Wednesday afternoon.
