A 27-year-old man was arrested and charged with murder in the first degree for the 2017 death of a young woman in Kake on Monday.
Isaac David Friday was arrested in Washington on $500,000 arrest warrant and indicted by a Sitka grand jury for the murder of 19-year-old Jade Williams on Aug. 15, 2017.
Williams was found not breathing in her home and taken to the Southeast Regional Health Consortium clinic in Kake where she was pronounced dead. Alaska State Troopers were unable to reach Kake to investigate the death until the next day due to inclement weather. Williams had lived in Juneau for two years in middle school before returning to Kake.
The maximum sentence if Friday is found guilty in a grand jury trial is 99 years in prison.
