Police arrested a 23-year-old man who they say broke a store window to gain entry while nighttime stockers were still inside, according to a Juneau Police Department press release.
Kurtis Detemple left Safeway, 3033 Vintage Blvd., around 4 a.m. Saturday morning after causing approximately $1,000 worth of damage to a window and leaving with approximately $50 of merchandise, only to be met in the back by officers, according to JPD’s press release. Police said the arrest occurred without incident and store employees, who hid in the back of the store, were not harmed.
Detemple was taken to Lemon Creek Correctional Center for burglary, theft and criminal mischief charges.
