A 24-year-old Juneau man was critically injured after being stabbed Saturday night while at a beach party on Thane Road.
JPD received a call at about 11:15 p.m., reporting the stabbing, which happened close to the avalanche chute and above a beach, which police described as popular for parties and bonfires, said Juneau Police Department Lt. Kris Sell.
The victim, who was not identified, was taken to Bartlett Regional Hospital and then medically evacuated to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
The stabbing remains under investigation, JPD said in a press release. No one was immediately arrested or taken into police custody, police said.
The incident took place near parked vehicles and the roadway, in an area above the beach where the party-goers had a bonfire. Capital City Fire/Rescue provided high-intensity lighting from a CCFR vehicle to aid the police investigators gathering evidence at the scene during the night.
