FAIRBANKS — Police are asking for information after a man was last seen falling through the Chena River ice.
The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner reported the man was described as a Native in his 20s who was wearing dark clothing.
People told Fairbanks police around 7:30 a.m. that a man was incapacitated beneath the Cushman Street bridge.
Calls came in about 10 minutes later from people saying the man got up and walked onto the ice, where he fell through.
It took Fairbanks firefighters less than four minutes to arrive on the scene.
They cut holes in the ice and searched for an hour and 40 minutes.
Emergency responders were unable to find the man.
Anyone with information on the fall or who the man may be is asked to contact police.
