JUNEAU — Authorities say a man has been found dead in a wooded area in Juneau, several hundred feet from a road.
Juneau police say the man’s body was discovered by a hiker Saturday afternoon.
Police said the body showed signs associated of being unattended in the woods. It wasn’t immediately clear how long the body had been there, and police said the man did not have any identification with him.
Police estimated the man, an Alaska Native, was in his 20s or 30s and say he had distinctive tattoos on his chest and arms.
The body was sent to the state medical examiner’s office for identification and for a cause-of-death determination.
The police urged anyone with information about the man’s identity to contact them.
