A 35-year-old man was indicted Wednesday for burglarizing Western Auto Marine and stealing a new Carhartt jacket.
Dirk S. Daugherty was charged with second-degree burglary, a felony, for breaking into the warehouse portion of the business, 5165 Glacier Highway. He is also facing a misdemeanor charge for the theft.
According to charging court documents, Daugherty set off several intruder alarms at 11:24 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 21, when the business was closed. A responding Juneau police officer found him inside the building at the store next door, Office Plus of Alaska, and he admitted to police that he broke into the warehouse and stole the jacket, valued at $87.
He is scheduled to be arraigned in Juneau Superior Court today.
