A Petersburg man has died in a boating accident outside Petersburg early Friday morning. Another man survived.
Doug Larson, 50, died after spending roughly two hours in the water, said the Alaska State Troopers, according to The Associated Press.
Charles King, 40, survived the cold water, and was rescued by a U.S. Coast Guard helicopter, the AP reported.
Winds gusting up to 45 mph may have contributed to flipping their 12-foot skiff. The two men were attempting to assist another boat that was stuck 12 miles west of Petersburg, according to the AP.
