Several incidents of swastikas being spray painted at locations in the Mendenhall Valley have been reported since Wednesday, with the Juneau Police Department publishing photos Saturday of a suspect at the entrance sign of the Mendenhall Glacier Recreation Area.
“The Juneau Police Department is asking for assistance in identifying the person in the attached photos, regarding graffiti at several locations in the Mendenhall Valley,” a post on JPD’s Facebook page states. “If you have information regarding the identity of the person, please contact the Juneau Police Department on our business line at 907-500-0600.”

JPD received initial reports on Wednesday about vandalism at the Mendenhall Valley Library and Rotary Park, according to an information release by the department issued Thursday.
“During the investigation, the officer determined red spray paint had been used to paint swastika symbols in the bathroom of the library, on electrical boxes outside of the library, in Rotary Park on the pavement under a pavilion and on the trail between Rotary Park and Cinema Drive,” the release states.
