ANCHORAGE — The state medical examiner says one of two people found dead last month in a burned sport utility vehicle near Soldotna has been identified.
Alaska State Troopers say 52-year-old Joni Pearcy of Soldotna was one of the people who died.
She was identified through dental records. The identity of the second person has not been confirmed.
Troopers on Nov. 20 took a report that Pearcy and another person were missing. They had last been seen the night of Nov. 14 and their SUV also was missing.
On Nov. 27, as a trooper investigated at a home where the two had been seen, a man stepped out of a wooded area and said he had found the SUV.
The SUV was off a trail.
