The Alaska House’s new minority caucus has some familiar faces at the top.
In a message sent at the close of business Wednesday, the 18-member House Republican Caucus said former Majority Leader Charisse Millett, R-Anchorage, will become Minority Leader in the coming legislative session. Former Speaker of the House Mike Chenault, R-Nikiski, will be the minority whip, and Rep. Lance Pruitt, R-Anchorage will be the minority’s finance leader.
Rep. Dan Saddler, R-Eagle River, will be the minority floor leader, a position that “will assist the House Republicans with motions and issues that arise during floor sessions, and will coordinate the communications and press for the House Republicans,” spokesman Jeremiah Campbell wrote by email.
Financial leader Pruitt “will guide the caucus on issues pertaining to Alaska’s budget and fiscal issues.”
The caucus includes all House members not previously announced as part of the 22-person majority coalition that includes Democrats, Republicans and independents.
Rep. Lora Reinbold, R-Eagle River, was excluded from last year’s Republican-led majority but is part of this year’s Republican minority caucus.
