The Alaska State Museum and the Juneau-Douglas City Museum are hosting special events in the coming week.
At 5 p.m. Thursday, the state museum will host a reception for “Living Alaska: A Decade of Collecting Contemporary Art for Alaska Museums,” a show on display in the new museum’s temporary gallery.
“Living Alaska,” curated by Sven Haakanson Jr., features art created by Alaska artists and collected by the Rasmuson Foundation.
At 6:30 p.m. July 12, the City Museum will host a lecture on paranormal investigations. The lecture will be presented at the Mendenhall Valley Public Library by David Harvey, a cultural preservationist in Juneau to examine the city museum’s iron tool collection.
Harvey will discuss his experience working on paranormal investigations at museums and historic sites.
