On Monday, construction crews will be operating excavation and compaction equipment on South Franklin Street near the Red Dog Saloon from midnight until 11 a.m.
The construction is in preparation for a water line reconstruction project. During Monday’s work, the city will be investigating the condition of the water line, which it plans to reconstruct next spring.
During work hours, parking will be prohibited in the construction area, and vehicular traffic on South Franklin Street will be narrowed to one lane. The construction will take place at night to “minimize impacts to businesses in the area,” according to a city press release.
A similar project will take place the following week on July 25 outside of El Sombrero. The construction hours for that project will be the same.
