The Alaska Food Coalition and Food Bank of Alaska are inviting legislators and the public to “Nothing Runs on Empty: Real Stories of Hunger in Alaska.”
This event is a photo exhibit and reception on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at the Hangar on the Wharf ballroom. The exhibit will feature photos and stories of food insecure people all across the state.
“One in 7 Alaskans, including over 37,000 children, struggle with hunger,” Sarra Khlifi, manager of the Alaska Food Coalition, said in a release. “This exhibit shares the stories of Alaskans facing hunger, as well as others who are making a difference through volunteering, donating and advocating.”
This event is part of the Alaska Food Coalition annual fly-in to Juneau, where anti-hunger advocates from around the state come together to share stories of food insecurity — and efforts to combat it — with their elected officials.
