ANCHORAGE — Responders say one person has died in a plane crash in Alaska’s interior.
Clint Johnson, the head of the National Transportation Safety Board’s Alaska division, says the private civilian plane crashed Wednesday afternoon on military property 17 miles southeast of Fairbanks. He says there was only one person on board the plane when it went down.
Johnson says a military helicopter crew confirmed the fatality and wreckage.
He says NTSB investigators will be heading to the crash site from Anchorage, probably on Thursday.
Johnson says no other information, including the type of aircraft, is being released at this time.
