ANCHORAGE — The U.S. Postal Service closed its Eagle River post office after a vandal damaged the main lobby.
Anchorage television station KTVA reported employees Tuesday morning found mail products strewn around the lobby as well as blood.
Postal inspector Alan Damron says the damage was found around 7 a.m.
Damron says the vandal may have been cut on a glass bottle.
He says the post office was closed mostly because of the presence of blood.
The main lobby is open 24 hours per day to give residents access to post office boxes.
The building’s interior was not damaged. Damron says there was no indication that mail had been taken.
