Perseverance Theater is hosting a variety of events around its production “Our Voices Will Be Heard” this week, a play about a mother’s and daughter’s journey that reveals how generations face the choice of continuing to perpetuate or disrupt family violence.
Today there will be “Healing Through Storytelling Art Workshop” at the Mendenhall Valley Public Library’s large meeting room. This event is free. Tlingit and Dena’ina artist Vera Starbard will lead the workshop in how to use storytelling for healing.
Monday, Jan. 25, there will be a reading of “Stalking the Bogeyman” with playwright David Holthouse with a post-show discussion at 7 p.m. on Perseverance’s main stage. This is a pay-as-you-can event.
On Tuesday, Jan. 26 there will be a forum on @360 at KTOO studios with Vera Starbard and David Holthouse at 5 p.m.
There will be a reading of “Assimilation” by playwright Jack Dalton with post-show discussion at Perseverance’s main stage on Feb. 1 at 7 p.m.
There will be another “Healing Through Storytelling” post show open discussion on Feb. 3.
