Rep. Justin Parish, D-Juneau, will hold a town hall meeting at 5 p.m. Tuesday in the Mendenhall Valley Public Library.
Parish is scheduled to appear with Commissioner of Revenue Randall Hoffbeck to discuss the “comprehensive budget plan and the state’s budget crisis.”
Hoffbeck will give a presentation, then Parish and Hoffbeck will answer questions.
Parish, who represents the Mendenhall Valley in the Legislature, is a member of the 22-member coalition that controls the Alaska House of Representatives.
That coalition has proposed a four-part plan to erase Alaska’s $2.7 billion deficit. The parts of that plan include modest budget cuts, spending from the investment earnings of the Alaska Permanent Fund, cuts to the state subsidy of oil and gas drilling, and an income tax.
