ANCHORAGE — Authorities say a man has been hospitalized with a broken leg after being struck by an Anchorage police vehicle.
KTUU-TV reported that police say the incident happened as officers were responding early Sunday to a report of a disturbance with a weapon.
The Anchorage Police Department says police had the lights and sirens on their vehicle activated when they came across a man in the street wearing dark clothing. The department reported that the man was not in a crosswalk.
Police say the officer “took evasive action” but still struck the man with his patrol car.
Officers stopped to render aid to the man, whose injuries were described as not life threatening.
