Perseverance Trail closed for rock work

Perseverance Trail and part of Basin Road will be closed for excavation work starting today and lasting through Oct. 9.

Perseverance Trail and part of Basin Road will be closed for excavation work starting today and lasting through Oct. 9, according to a press release from the City and Borough of Juneau.

Parks & Recreation trail maintenance crews will be using heavy equipment to remove rock fall and clear drainages on Perseverance Trail. At least part and possible all of Perseverance Trail will be closed during the excavation. Basin Road will be closed to vehicles beyond the Mount Roberts trailhead when the excavator is clearing a rockslide above Basin Road. Closing part of the road is necessary because boulders may roll into the roadway.

Access along Gold Creek will be closed when the excavator is working on the trail above the creek. The city has asked people to follow the direction of posted closure signs and trail staff during the construction.

For more information, contact Parks & Recreation at 586-5226 or parks.rec@juneau.org.
