Poetry Omnibus is seeking submissions of poems 10 lines long or less. Winning poems will be displayed on Capital City Transit buses for one year. There are two categories, one for adults and one for youth.
This year there will be two workshops for youth, ages 8-17, on how to craft a poem for the contest. Emily Wall and Monika Haygood will lead the first one on Wednesday, Jan. 17 at the Douglas Public Library from 5:30-7 p.m.; Christy NaMee Eriksen will lead the second one on Saturday, Jan. 20 at the Juneau Public Library from 3-4:30 p.m.
Poems can be submitted to juneaupoets.wordpress.com. The first poem is free. To submit multiple poems, it costs $3 per poem. Deadline to submit is Jan. 31.
