On Thursday morning, Juneau Police Department officers arrested Eric Aguiar, 19, who allegedly matched the description of a man who made aggressive and unwelcome advances toward two women in the Mendenhall Valley this week, according to a JPD release.
At 9:31 p.m. Tuesday, a Juneau woman reported that a man had followed her to her car at a business in the 2800 block of Riverside Drive, according to the release. Once the woman was inside her car, she reported, the man attempted to open the car door. She backed her car up, according to the release, but the man approached the car again. She was eventually able to get away from him.
Two days later, at 11:38 a.m. Thursday, a female employee at a business in the 9300 block of Glacier Highway reported to police that a man had entered the store and had made advances toward her, according to the release. She was afraid of the man’s unwelcome advances and attempts to get her alone, the release states.
JPD Public Safety Manager Erann Kalwara said Aguiar touched one of the victims.
Police found Aguiar about a block away, and saw that he matched the description of the suspect in both incidents, according to the release. Officers arrested Aguiar for two counts of assault, according to the release, and he was taken to Lemon Creek Correctional Center and held on $3,000 bail.
