ANCHORAGE — Anchorage police have arrested a suspect in a shooting that left a man wounded at a busy gas station.
Police say 37-year-old Hershell Ray Shelton II was arrested just before 11 p.m. at a hotel.
Shelton is being held at the Anchorage Jail on suspicion of felony assault, weapons misconduct, evidence tampering and driving with a canceled license.
Police just before 7 p.m. Wednesday took calls that a man had been shot in the parking lot of the Holiday station at C Street and 36th Avenue.
They found a man with a wound to his ankle. He was taken to hospital.
Police saidthe injured man apparently knew whoever shot him and the shooting was not random.
Online court records did not list an attorney for Shelton.
