The Juneau Police Department is conducting a death investigation for a body found near the Auke Bay Ferry Terminal, said police spokesperson.
JPD received a call about the body at roughly 1 p.m. on Tuesday, said Lt. Krag Campbell in an email.
“JPD is conducting a death investigation in the wooded area across from the ferry terminal,” Campbell said. “No identification of the deceased has been made.”
It appeared that the body had been there for some time, Campbell said.
“(It’s) difficult to say if it is suspicious or not,” Campbell said. “(There was) nothing immediately recognizable as suspicious. Other than it shouldn’t be normal for a body to be in the woods.”
This is a developing story and more information will be added as it becomes available.
