The Juneau Police Department is investigating the destruction of a mailbox in June, possibly with fireworks or other explosives, according to a news release.
“On [June 15], a resident in the 11000 block of Glacier Highway reported being woken up in the middle of the night by what sounded like a large firework going off,” wrote Lt. Krag Campbell in the news release. “In the morning, the resident found that their mailbox had been destroyed.”
Campbell said the resident did not investigate at the time of the disturbance because of the upcoming Fourth of July holiday.
“Pieces of the mailbox could be found up to 150 feet in all directions,” Campbell said. “It is unknown if the mailbox was destroyed by a firework, explosive, or by other means.”
