ANCHORAGE — An Anchorage police officer and three citizens freed a man trapped in a sport utility vehicle that crashed and burned Sunday.
Police at about 4 p.m. took a call that an SUV had rolled off a road in Stuckagain Heights.
A police officer found the SUV on its right side.
The driver, who had not worn a seat belt, was on the passenger side with his arm stuck under the vehicle.
The officer and two citizens tried rocking the SUV to free the driver’s arm.
A fourth person joined them. They rocked the car just enough for the driver to free his arm and crawl out.
Police say the SUV became fully engulfed by fire a minute after the driver was freed. He was taken to a hospital.
