The Juneau Police Department has already linked a dark green 1990s Ford Explorer to a man suspected of attempted kidnapping five months ago, but they haven’t made an arrest and now they’re asking for more tips.
On March 2, a man held a 32-year-old pregnant Juneau woman at gunpoint in the 1900 block of Dunn Street, according to a JPD press release. Then he pistol whipped her, all while her 4-year-old daughter was by her side.
The woman previously spoke with the Empire, but asked to remain unnamed. She said she managed to fight off her attacker, despite being held in a bear hug. After the pistol whip, she was briefly knocked unconscious. She was able to call police for help after she woke up.
Police said the woman only sustained a non-life threatening injury to her face. Her 4-year-old daughter was unharmed.
On Friday, JPD highlighted the incident for the second time as its “Crime of the Week” to generate new tips.
Police described the suspect as being between 5’7” and 5’9” tall, having a skinny build, a dark complexion and large dark brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a black hoodie and a black ski mask with white around the mouth.
Anyone with information about the incident can contact JPD at 586-0600 or can send tips anonymously to the Juneau Crime Line at juneaucrimeline.com. Tipsters are guaranteed anonymity and can be rewarded.
